I'm a sucker for some spray paint projects.

I got busy cleaning out the garage at the old homestead yesterday.

And what to my wondering eyes should appear?
An old chair, I'd forgotten even was here.

All brown and dingie, All chippy and torn.
Sitting there beggin to come up re born

.

As I put on my gloves and got out my spray can,
I turned to see hubbo heading toward the trash can.

You wouldn't be thinking to throw that away?
give me her please , todays not the day.

Cause springs in the air with lots of rebirth
and that landfill just doesn't need anymore girth.

So quickly I primed her and then sprayed her good

All white and refreshed, now she's bettered my mood.

Now some flowers adorn her, where a hole used to be

As she dresses a porch front for all to see.

You saved me she purrs, kept me from doom

And simply because my garage needed some room!

Vintage Tablecloth Love

I love and adore vintage tablecloths.

Anyone who knows me might even say I have a bit of a problem, obsession, compulsion,  love affair with them.
I probably have too many. But I tend not to see it that way.

Many are from the 50's Like the one above with it's pretty jadeite color leaves.

Some  are more modern, if they catch my fancy, there in! ... i love em all, but really fancy a fresh, in good condition, mid century,  cloth.

Don't you think the little red cherries, rasberries and blue bows are so adorable?

And irrisistable?

I like to use these vintage, red, white, and blue for Memorial day and Fourth of July.
And isn't it nice that Memorial day is only 2 1/2 weeks away?     Any great plans?

lots to get done before that.
My next tour of duty down the shore will be to finish up the little rental cottage.
That will include removing some things, so I best make room in my SUV!!

And I really need to get busy changing out this slipcovered sofa below at my Cottage Beach House

This front porch is one of my favorite places to sit and catch the sea beeze
( 2nd only to the back porch second floor sunroom with the view)
What is nice about this spot is.. just dozing off as the sun dances in on you, and beach-goers waltz past.

The blue denim is faded from the strong sun that pours in, and it is time to change it for a white slipcover.
I'm not so sure what I will do with the faded one?? Any ideas? I would like to re-use it because it is still in fine shape except for the faded spots.
Wonder if I can bleach it a pale blue.
I still love my little red white and blue toss pillows.  I got them really reasonably priced a few years back!

Here is a closer look at them on the little window seat.

Most of the cottage is white with shades of blue and green. I usually only bring out the few red white and blue things for the summer Holidays, then back in storage they go.

I only showed you a few of my old tablecloths, I don't have alot down the shore. It's too tiny a cottage to have them all there, but wait ..there are more....back at the old homestead.

I have one for any Holiday you can think of... and then some. This shamrock one is a fav.

I keep them in these 2 boxes that I 've pushed together to form my coffee table in the family room.

And they are filled to the brim.

But in my defense, I have to say, I have stopped.
I figured I have enough... Once in a great while I will find one that I absolutely have to have.. but that hasn't happened in at least a year.

this one is embroidered. Sorry the pics aren't so good. It's nightime here, and I used my iphone,
 my camera is dead!

I Love the lacy ones too. You might know the one below is one of my favorites.
I use it alot. It's very vintage, in perfect condition, and it is a large tablecloth.
It is a full 60 inches by 48 so it covers my whole table and I have a couple of small runners to match, that I found over the years. Usually out on one of  my thrifting hunts. Ahhh the thrill of the hunt.

Do you have something you love to use again and again? A special platter...or runner?

I love the handiwork in these pretty pieces. Don't you? They are so easy to appreciate.

Have you thrifted anything great lately?

The Soul of a Flower

Flowers are the sweetest things God ever made, and forgot to put a soul into.  ~Henry Beecher, Life Thoughts, 1858

Who says that the flower has no soul?
How do we really know that?

They effect us in such peaceful ways!

The flowers in my garden carry so many magical moments with them year after year as they return to bring me their joyous little buds... springing forth which such abandon.

Any container you put them in is happy to embrace them!

Any table set with flowers is instantly cheered.

Can't imagine our planet without their force.

Without their beauty

Their softness.
Understated glory.

Magic

Painting, Redecorating, Junkin and Fluffing the sunroom

I often overestimate what I can get done.
My plans get sabotoged.
Like this weekend. Started with big plans to clean up my beach house and get 2 properties that I rent out prepared for the season.
Trouble was I got a phone call just on Saturday..letting me know that my seasonal renter was backing out. So that changed my plans big time. This is just 3 weeks till the summer season begins !!
It kinda puts me in a jam.
I had to get busy with For Rent signs and pictures and  setting up my  advertising on
 "our town rentals.com"
And contracts at the real estate office, new keys, blah, blah blah.
That shot my Sunday and most of my Monday!
Topped off with the internet not working down here at my shore house.... And there just ain't any over acheiving or over accomplishing here,
Overambitious we got. Unless I stay a day longer. Which I did.

And I am just wondering if any of you cyber peeps happen to know what is wrong with the male species?
I asked hubbo to help me bring the deck furniture back outside from its winter haven inside the house, and this is how he arranges it.
 In a clump.
Talented huh?
Yeah. He's got it go-in on.

After all the  cleaning, picture taking and uploading and discribing. I finally got that Rental cottage listed.
It's a  little Victorian Cottage, about a block from the water in North Wildwood NJ

A small little cottage set back with a large front yard. It's tiny and fits about 4 people.
 A block to the beach

When that was done I moved onto finishing up what I had planned for my personal cottage, which I posted about here. I still have a million things to do before the Memorial day start of our summer season.
My list for this weekend
#1. Finish painting the 2 T back chairs
#2.  find a place for this vintage table
#3 I will be lugging my table up the stairs,
#4. That table will be getting a fresh coat of white too.
#5. Find a new spot for those chairs I am going to finish painting.
#6 Add more starfish to windows

1. Got those chairs finally done and gave them a place next to the hutch.
The Before.

The After
 And with a cushion..

They got a spot by the hutch. They match my kitchen chairs better now, and will be handy to pull into the kitchen for extra seating.
One additional fun thing I managed to squeeze in was junkin with my sis.
I found this adorable blue covered veggie dish .

After all my work and fun junking...
#2 Found a spot for the vintage table
#3 lugged up satirs
#4 Paint vintage table ( had to paint the undercarriage, I hadn't done  that before, was being lazy :)
and a fresh top coat everywhere else)

Now for the fun part. The fluffing.
I noted last week that I wanted the room to look like this one below from Cottage Living magazine. Or was it Waterside Cottages?
Post Note: I just found out it in the book Waterside Cottages,
 written by Barbara Jacksier
http://barbarajacksier.blogspot.com
I love this room and it looks a lot like my sunroom already, I just added the table and the boat.

I wanted a table I could use for games and a snack or lunch. The best part is I already had everything I needed in the house. I love shopping my own house. The table was from my dining area which I was replacing with bar stools.

So here is my sun room with my freshly painted vintage dining room table in it.

The games are tucked under the table in a painted suitcase
A place for Mojitos and Snacks

Some fluffiness for the couch

I love my old drop leaf table and I am glad I didn't give it away!

One Movie quote I am thinking about right now is the one from "Jaws"

"We're gonna need a bigger boat"

Don't ya think?

Another post note:
I got a bigger boat!
