Memorial Day Red White and Blue

It's time for a little bit of Memorial Day preparations

Some red white and blue in honor of our soldiers who have sacrificed dearly for our freedom.

In the shop I gathered some ruby fenton glass and some cobalt plates and set them on the
Frenchy  table I recently  painted white.
I added in some white lace, I picked up on a recent Florida purchasing spree.

Moved things around till I was content.

My dear sister, who is back in town now made these napkin rings.
I just call her Pickier

The adventures of Picky and Pickier  will begin again now ;).
She just loves to go junking with me, and visa versa.

We managed to get the window decorated also in a red white and blue theme for the upcoming Memorial Day Weekend
Here is a peek at the window with some white enamelware trimmed in red.
Some little flags thrown in here and there, and as always my favorite....
vintage bottles, this time in cobalt blue

I love decorating the windows for the Holidays.
This one will work for Flag Day June 14th and Independence Day July 4th
(Let's see If I don't get bored and change it a bit)

And back at the Cottage, a fitting table ready for breaking some crabs from Ricky's

Yumm I am already thinking about steamed mussels

I hope you have a happy upcoming Memorial Day... the official start of summer... yippee..

The Summer's last Hooooorrahhy!

While sitting, and enjoying the beach after a dip in the wild waves, this past Labor Day weekend, I snapped this pic, in the distance you can barely see a sailboat. But it' there, so bear with me.
Labor day weekend was really one of the best of the summer. The water down the shore was still warm and so very clear. No jellyfish this year at all! The weather was perfect for sailing and several boats came ashore.

So off my adventurous spirit  went to see where this was heading.
I could see it was going to come ashore up by the inlet so I nabbed my sis to accompany me on this little beach walk. I got excited, as we got near the spot where it landed, because I usually only see them a way off in the ocean.

And as I get closer
And closer.
The owner looks like one of those little vintage wooden nautical fishermen you can buy!
Ok now he's facing my way so I have to be more cautious because ..
maybe he doesn't want his picture taken!
So I switch my attention to a small river forming from the ocean to the tide pool, where lots of little fish and crabs are riding the ripples and probably giggling.

And Sis spots another sail!

So we head on back and check them out again!
3 nautical fishermen figures.

It was a fun day, checking out the boats that were sailing right up on to the beach on
Labor Day weekend.
Ahhh summer.
It ain't over till it's over!

Now let's get back to that mojito!

And then that night on my walk over to my sister's house to play some dominoes,
my daughter and I encounter some gorgeous cotton candy clouds!

Now, who could ask for more than the "feast for the eyes" these summer days bring?

What a Fantastic Summer!

I know the summer is beginning to wind down, but the weather has been so fantastic, I don't want it to end!.
There have been so many people at the beaches. Here is a view on a busy Saturday.
Somebody was apparently in need of help. Not to worry, they got it, and all is fine.

I really like it when it is less crowded and things are much more normal.
Like below.

We certainly enjoy our walks to the beach, and I snapped the pic below on our way.

Yesterday my daughter and I went down the beach just before sundown,  to catch some minnows,
and realized we should have bought a trash bag with us.
People from the weekend left so much trash on our gorgeous beach.
Why do people not clean up after themselves?
Don't they know that marine life can die from swallowing their stupid plastic containers and toys?
I'm used to it looking pristine.

Lucky we had a small bucket we took with us for minnows, we used that to clean up a bit.
Normally the beach does get cleaned up by the city but this part is a no swimming allowed beach,
so they don't come here to clean it.
And people do come here anyway as you can see by the first picture and the one below!
They even set up tents.

I like it best when it calms down a bit.

Below is on our walk back home to the cottage.
On a large strip of beach were most don't bother to walk to!
Of course we don't want to leave.

I certainly do love it here...
