My Vintage Bottles from Philly Morph to Xmas Centerpiece

I love to decorate with my Vintage Bottle Collection.

I chose the aqua colored ones for this display.

Some Frosty glass and greens.
In a previous post I showed you a couple of my vintage bottles. They all come from when my hubbo used to dig holes in the streets of Philadelphia to fix people's plumbing lines.

Back in the 90's I found these cute little cabinets to display them. The arch at the top is similar to my china closet. This is where they live, when I am not decorating with them.

For some Winter wonderland, Christmas spirit, I paired them up with my white milk glass platter and some evergreen from the yard. Not sure what this bush is, but it grows very tall, like a tree, and has the tiniest little pine cones on it. I love it.

Most of these bottles where thrown into the holes dug by the original pipe layers way back in the early 1900's or prior. I looked many of these bottles up and some date back to late 1800's. When men sold special potions in horse drawn carriages. Potions for health and energy, or "snake oil salesmen".
Today, they would just deliver them to convenience stores. like red bull or monster, energy drinks.

I chose a lacy white vintage crochet tablecloth over plain icy blue fabric, for extra frostiness.

I also tried the bottle on a silver platter, and added a few candles to the bottles with larger mouths.

It's hard to decide. which would you choose the silver platter or the white?

Ink bottles, medicine bottles, tincture bottles and lysol containers.
And the candle fits perfectly in the one...

Loving the birdseye view!

A simple, vintage, white frosty, Christmas decoration.

I thought I would add 4 more pine cones from the yard! and I decided on the white platter.

I love the simplicity of it.

I hope you enjoyed walking in my winter wonderland!

Thanks for stopping by!
I will be joining the parties...

  1. I love vintage bottles too. You have an amazing collection. I would choose the silver tray only because it is the holidays. Otherwise I would choose the white. I like silver during christmas.

  3. Oh how I LOVE those bottles! I'd never ever put them away. :)

Either the white or silver platter is very pretty. I think the silver adds extra glitz for the season but you can't go wrong either way.

  6. I love this!!! The vintage bottles are fabulous & so is the story of how they came to live in your house. I have a small collection of vintage bottles. But mine came from ebay. But I did get a great deal on mine. I just wish I had some fabulous aqua ones like yours. They would look great on my Christmas mantel.

  9. These bottles aren't just vintage, they're also serious antiquities; real treasures, I think, adding history to your home.

The centrepiece is fantastic. I love the crochet table-cover, and the branches and cones make the whole display a true original.

I'd like to know if you made the table-cover yourself? It's very pretty! I wrote a post on a couple of vintage pieces, myself, which are now part of our family heirloom.

  10. I love vintage blue bottles. It's great you have a story that goes with them instead of "I got them off ebay"! I decorate my kitchen/family room area in mostly white with accents of pale turquoise blue, so this would fit right in.

  11. Thanks so much for all the lovely comments! I love getting them. Yes Jenni, it was fun when my husband would come home with a new bottle dug from the street. Most being from when the water lines were first put in.
And to answer Merry Makes... I also have a great collection of tablecloths that I have added through the years, but I never did learn the art of crocheting, although I certainly wish I had. But I have enjoyed adding a special cloth every now and then when I found one that struck my fancy!

  13. First off I would like to say fantastic blog!
I had a quick question that I'd like to ask if you do not mind. I was curious to find out how you center yourself and clear your thoughts prior to writing. I have had a hard time clearing my mind in getting my ideas out. I do take pleasure in writing but it just seems like the first 10 to 15 minutes are generally lost simply just trying to figure out how to begin. Any recommendations or tips? Kudos!
